During this lesson or task was to make a magazine proposal, I personally struggled in this task as I wasn't really sure what I wanted my magazine to look like. my initial idea was to do a urban, hip pop and RnB genre magazine. The reason why I choose those three genre is because those my three favourite types of genre and I thought that I could produce a good magazine as i could relate.During the process I realise the model I selected does not look like a urban artist and also the majority of my class mates were doing the same or very similar genre because if this I decided to make a few changes. the first change made was to kick out the urban magazine idea and turn it into a more teen related genre however I did decide to keep the name as I am struggling to come up with a name.

Masthead Draft

Today's lesson we had someone come in and teach us how to use illustrator.we learnt how to use defect our words, we learnt how to create colour and to add in shapes. My Logo is 'URBAN'. I am not a 100% with this Masthead ,as it doesn't fit the genre.

Final Front Cover

Evalutaion

At the beginning were allocated a preliminary task in which we were to create a college magazine which consisted of a cover page and a contents page. During this we learnt how to use Photoshop and InDesign and we used our cases studies as a guidance to create the front cover and contents page. I used Photoshop to create my front cover.

There are a few things I like about my front cover and there are things I believe I could've improved. One thing I believe I did well was to stand out as I choose my magazine to be themed "Fashion week" for a college magazine which believes is very creative. I am really happy with my cover model as she captures the real essence of a real model even thought she's a model. The model looks fierce and she is looking directly at camera. I took the photo outside in my local park because of the natural lighting. My original photo was a long shot of the model which shows her outfit and body language as a whole, however after being told I by my teacher that it doesn't fit the conventional magazine structure of a magazine  I had to zoom in, after zooming the photo became pixalleted and blurry. This diminishes the quality of the image. This made my magazine look very unprofessional which would result to the target audience not attracted to it.

Another thing I really like about my front cover is the how the maste head wraps around the models head; to get that effect I used Photoshop. On Photoshop I type the Masthead on the layer of the photo, I then zoomed in and slowly erase, the letter edges to create the effect of the model standing in front of the maste head.

My magazine doesn’t follows the traditional colour scheme however the colours is used in my magazine compliment each other very well, and fits in with the back ground and the natural lighting of the sunset on the face of the model.

One thing I think I could’ve improved on were my cover lines as they were creative but not very effective In terms of being appealing. My cover line is not very detailed and very short which decrease the value of my magazine. I was unable to add puffs/flash or due to lack go organisation skill

Overall I believe that this preliminary task was very useful as I can use it as an example on what nit to do when making a magazine and also it show me that I need to put more effort in my ideas as they are very creative but with effort they are not effective
